Supima cotton is a trademarked, premium variety of 100% American-grown Pima cotton. Representing less than 1% of the world’s total cotton production, it is considered one of the rarest and highest-quality fabrics globally.
Key Characteristics of Supima Cotton:
- Extra-Long Staple (ELS) Fibers: Supima is defined by fibers that are approximately 35% to 50% longer than regular cotton. These longer fibers create a smoother, finer yarn with fewer exposed ends, resulting in a noticeably softer and more luxurious feel.
- Superior Strength: It is roughly twice as strong as regular cotton. This high tensile strength makes garments extraordinarily resilient, helping them maintain their shape and resist tearing even after years of use.
- Vibrant Color Retention: The finer fibers absorb dye more efficiently and deeply, allowing colors to stay vibrant up to 50% longer than standard cotton.
- Pill Resistance: Because the fibers are longer and smoother, they are much less likely to break or tangle into “pills” (small balls of fiber) that typically appear on older clothing.

Performance and Sustainability:
- Breathability: Its natural fiber structure facilitates excellent air circulation and moisture-wicking, making it ideal for hot and humid climates.
- Authenticity and Traceability: Every product labeled as “Supima” must be certified by the American Supima Association (ASA). To ensure authenticity, Supima uses forensic science to verify the fiber’s origin back to its specific U.S. farm.
- Eco-Friendly Practices: Supima is grown on roughly 500 family-owned farms that use advanced technology, such as GPS-navigated tractors and soil monitors, to minimize environmental impact.
